annoying English teacher?
I don’t like my English teacher, even though she’s nice and the rest of the class like her. I’m used to getting really good grades in English but she hardly ever seems impressed with my work and I feel like nothing I write is good enough but I can’t ask her what to do differently because I don’t think she’ll understand my point of view. I think it might be a case of a personality clash or something. I find her extremely irritating because whenever she reads out loud she always pronounces words wrong, like for example we’re studying Hamlet at the moment and every time she reads the word vengeance she pronounces it as if it was spelled ‘vengeanance’ and she pronounces a lot of other words wrongly as well and it really gets on my nerves and I want to correct her but if I do everybody looks at me as if I’m being really cheeky or something, so I just keep my mouth shut but it really annoys me when she pronounces words wrong and explains things wrong, but I feel like it’s too trivial to question her on. How can I get along being in her class? She annoys me so much that I don’t like English anymore, and I’ve always been really good at it ever since I was in primary school.
Well yes I was aware while typing that I was making some grammar errors because I just always type that way on the internet, out of habit I guess, I never bother to use full proper grammar, capitalisation etc, and I tend to type as if I’m speaking…don’t really know why..
but anyway I’m not the one being paid to teach kids the wrong pronounciation of words
I don’t understand why you would assume that you won’t understand your point of view if you talk to her. Why don’t you try giving her the benefit of the doubt and ask for help on some of your papers?
as a side note…you have some spelling and grammar errors as well in your question. No one is without flaw.

It’s like me and my teacher, just ignore her thats what I do because it’s annoying sometimes but I deal with it. I know a lot of people probally have told you that but still, try. Or just read them to your self and ignre her reading. = )

I appreciate what you have to say, Peach, but taking a dislike to your teacher or attempting to embarrass her in front of the class has not met their approval and it is not the best way to achieve your goal.
You are bothered about your recent grades in English because you know that you can do better.
Sometimes, when we are praised a great deal over our work, we have a tendency to become complacent. Our schoolwork becomes far too easy, it is no longer a challenge and the standard of our work declines.
I know about complacency because I was in your position when I was fourteen. And, far worse than that, I was arrogant. At the time, it never occurred to me that the problem was entirely mine. It took my grandfather to point out to me that the standard of my English essays were no longer as interesting as those of my previous years. The real nub of my situation was that I was used to writing in accordance with a certain formula that had worked for me up until that time.
My grandfather told me that I was fighting the wrong battle when I fought against my teachers. He told me that I lacked humility.
‘The real battle,’ he said, ‘takes place within you.’
We read all of my previous essays together and eventually I realised what he and my teachers were pointing out to me.
Your challenge, if I may present you with one, is to ask your teacher the reasons why your grades are slipping.
If you have the courage to attempt embarrassing her in front of the class, then you have the ability to engage her about improving the standard of your work.
I had to do the same and, believe me, I am glad that I did.
